• The Japan Foundation, Manila holds film festivals of full-length Japanese feature films / documentaries and other culturally enriching visual presentations with English sub-titles. Film screenings are occasionally held in joint sponsorship with other foreign and local cultural organizations; lectures by film directors and seminar/workshops are also made available to film enthusiasts and the general public.

    • Asia as Our Society Film Festival - May 17 to 21, 2012 (Cinema 4, Shang Cineplex, Shangri-La)

      This year's offering brings together 17 films from China, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Japan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and the Philippines that will surely amuse film enthusiasts and the general public as well.

      Two films penned by The Japan Foundation’s featured directors Akio Kondo, “Eclair” and Isamu Nakae, “WANKO - The Story of Me, My Family and My Dog”, will be shown at the festival. Screening schedules will be on Saturday, May 19 (5:30pm) and Sunday, May 20 (3:00pm) respectively.

      All films will be shown with English subtitles. Admission is free.
