国際交流基金主催月例『日本語教育研究交流会』はフィリピンの日本研究および日本語教育の分野における発展を望み、また個人的に専門性を高めようとする人々の相互理解と連携を目指して、毎月開かれる交流の場です。
今回は、現在、九州保健福祉大学で教えていらっしゃるビー・デビッドさんに『漢字ハイブリッド学習システムについて』発表していただきます。ビーさんは、大変ユニークな『Kanji Handbook』という本を書かれました。「人uman」「八ight」「No 人erson will 入nter a house on 火ire….」というように、英語の単語の一番はじめの文字を漢字にしてあり、英語と結び付けて漢字を覚えられるようになっています。
「漢字が苦手」、「どうのようにしたら漢字を楽しく・効果的に教えることができるのか」など、漢字について悩んでいる人はいませんか？ぜひこの機会に、ビーさんの話を聞いて、ヒントにしてみてください。多くの方のご参加、お待ちしています。
 The JF Manila Lecture Series is in pursuit of Japan Foundation’s objective of enhancing mutual understanding through the promotion of human exchange among those who seek professional encouragement, and further development in the field of Japanese Studies and Japanese Language Education in the Philippines.
This time, the lecturer – Mr Vee David, who is a Filipino professor of Kyushu University of Health and Welfare in Miyazaki, Japan, will do a presentation on “KanjiHybrid Learning System: A Creative Solution to Master the Kanji”. This revolutionary learning system was developed by him. The system is the gist of a world best-selling book, The Kanji Handbook (Tuttle Publishing, 2006) which is being sold in 27 countries, including Harvard University. Amazon.com describes it as: This innovative book presents the concept and application of "KanjiHybrids", a teaching tool created by the author to help non-Japanese speakers learn Kanji. Simply put, Vee David has linked the 1,945 most commonly used Kanji characters with English words to form one integral unit, a "Kanji Hybrid". Using mnemonics as a learning tool, the author has replaced the first letter of an English word with the Kanji for that word in an effort to help students memorize difficult Kanji characters.
