Watch Filipino students and professionals from all over the country show off their skills in the Japanese language in the 39th Nihongo Speech Contest on Saturday, February 25, 10 am at The Tents, Alphaland Southgate Mall in Makati City.
As part of the Nihongo Fiesta 2012, the contest is in line with the aim of Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM) to promote cultural exchange through Japanese Language Education in the Philippines.The Nihongo Speech Contest gives the Japanese language students and professionals the opportunity to articulate their own original compositions on a theme of their choice.
After a call for submission of a written copy and recording of their speeches last December 2011 and a pre-screening in the cities of Cebu and Davao and the JFM office in Makati, high-caliber contestants from the country’s numerous language institutes, colleges/universities and other organizations offering Japanese language courseswill make their way to the Nihongo Speech Contest finals.
Thecontest’s Champion and the Outstanding Performance Awardee will both take part in an all-expense-paid week-long study tour in Japan; all qualified contestants will receive consolation prizes.
High school students currently attending Nihongo or Japanese language and culture classes in their respective schools also have a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of Japanese language and culture at the 4th Nihongo Quiz Bee. To be held on the same day at The Tents, the Nihongo Quiz Bee is also an event of the Japan Foundation, Manila and the Association of Filipino Nihongo Teachers (AFINITE).
